We bought a notebook for Mom (turquoise, of course) to make it easy for her to keep all of her notes in one place. She wrote a poem about the elm trees that grew in the yard outside her house on our old ranch on Cedar Creek. It is posted here with her permission.

Yard Trees
Thank you for my trees Elmy and Starry
that hold up the breeze
and the kingbird’s nest,
And the nighthawk’s rest
In their leafy bars,
And at night they gather up the stars
that sweep across the Milky Way.
