Chief is the only breeding son of TruWest Pure PrairieSmoke (Smokey). He carries two crosses to Senatefield, three crosses to Fleetfield and four crosses to Warhawk. These are old working ranch bloodlines that are now becoming hard to find.
Chief’s dam is M River Candy, a full sister to M River Satin, mother of our TruWest mares Dolly, Summer, Lily and Prairie, and many other exceptional, talented working cowhorses.

Chief at age 2.
We don’t ride out before the sun is up and work all day like we used to, but this is the type of horse we wanted when we did. Chief inherited the stout, athletic frame of his ancestors Warhawk and Mortana Senator, and his incomparable sire, TruWest Pure PrairieSmoke. Chief is big enough to do just about any job, but he has the more compact conformation we preferred for surefooted travel in rough terrain, smooth motion, and the agility to work cattle calmly in pens and corrals.

This fella, though…what we love the most is Chief’s happy, fun-loving spirit; he has a delightful sense of humor. Chief is curious, he learns fast, and he loves to play. He passes this on to all of his foals.

Chief’s first foals were born in 2022. We expect that these and all of his foals will inherit the best of Smokey’s traits and become stout, smart, capable Morgan horses who want to work and look great doing it.
